Shhhhhhhhhhh -- tell no one, but me thinks this semester we shall take on...
Hamlet
Othello
Much Ado About Nothing
(A Live Performance Study if schedule allows )
Shakespeare in Love (Optional Film Study)
Sonnets
Note - We are a senior semester class. We only have a few months together -- so let's make the most of it. Our approach to the study of Shakespeare is less 'academic' and more "close reading on your feet."
Just reading the works of Shakespeare alone in your room isn't fun -- they are plays and we must look at them in the form in which they were meant to be experienced.
(Don't worry -- you aren't expected to be an actor -- but I'm going to expect you face your fears and jump into this Shizspeare with both feet, yo!)
2 -3 FEBRUARY 2014 (SNOW DAY)
ASSIGNMENT #1 -
Uncle Ian helps us out:
Spend some time with Sir Ian McKellen as he discusses the opening lines of Richard III. This interactive web site offers tidbits and fun things. What else are you going to do -- shovel?
